BPW cake auction raises money for community organizations
COSHOCTON -The annual BPW Cake Auction was held Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Frontier Power Community Room with the theme, “It’s a Jungle Out There”. Money from this auction went to help fund the organizations the local BPW gives to including the Joan McNeely Working Women Scholarship, Dollars for Scholars, Salvation Army Christmas project, and First Step Family Violence Intervention Services. Tomma Bordenkircher said the group contributed their money to organizations with a focus on education. “If women get a higher education, they increase their income and that helps her family,” she said. “It’s a continuous cycle.” Bordenkircher also said the cake auction is something BPW members look forward to every year. “The bakers outdo themselves every year,” she said. “Some of the bakers have been with us for 20 years. They really like that we started doing a theme last year.” Dianne Miller of the Coshocton BPW served cake to people who came to view and bid on cakes auctioned off at the auction.
