Pom Theatricals to offer program for kids

| September 26, 2017

COSHOCTON – POM THEATRICALs is an all-around arts education experience for children designed to encourage a broad range of creative expression through the visual arts, storytelling (drama), movement (dance), and sound (music). It’s a collaborative effort calling on all creative skills.

This year’s program is based on Matsuo Basho’s most famous Haiku “The old pond, A frog jumps in: Plop!” and paintings by Claude Monet, the most famous painter of ponds. Children will get to meet, act like, and draw live frogs, take a trip to Clary Gardens and paint pictures of the pond there, create a pond environment inside the Pomerene, create the sound of a frog jumping into a pond, practice being a jumping frog and begin making frog sugar lift print for T-shirt (costume), and finally put it all together in an improvisational story and perform for friends and family

The above is only possible with children who love making art and friends and family who love being an audience!

The seven-week program will be each Saturday beginning Oct. 7 through Nov. 19. Times are as follows: For children in grades K – 3, 9 – 10 a.m. Limit seven children. Cost is $5 per week. For children in grades 4 – 8, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Limit seven children. Cost is $5 per week.

There will also be an ITTY BITTY POM THEATRICALs with the same theme on Fridays beginning Oct. 13 through Nov. 18 for six weeks. This is a play date for children ages 3 – 5, 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. Limit six children. Cost is $5 per week.
