ADAMESVILLE – James E. “Jim” Vernon, 67, of Adamsville, passed away at Coshocton Springs Nursing Home on Saturday September 30, 2017.

Jim was born in Zanesville, Ohio on January 23, 1950 to the late Bryce and Geneva (Prouty) Vernon.

He served in the Air National Guard and was a member of the Dresden American Legion Honor Guard.  Jim retired from AT&T where he was a lineman and a cable splicer.

Jim was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Adamsville and a past 4-H Advisor for the Young Equestrian’s Coshocton County 4-H Club.  He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Jim and his wife Linda are proud of their 36 acre 200 year old family farm in Symmes Township; it was recognized as a Sesquicentennial Farm in 2016.

He is survived by his devoted wife Linda D. Vernon whom he married in 1970; two daughters Lori (Mark) McNichols of Gahanna and Lisa (Ron) Allender of Lewis Center; six grandchildren Ethan and Alex McNichols, Ryann, Bailey, Bradyn and Cowen Allender; two brothers Carl (Linda) Vernon and Garry (Kelly) Vernon both of Adamsville; one sister Becky (Larry) Williams of New Concord; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, Coshocton on Tuesday October 3, 2017 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  Funeral services for Jim will be held at the New Hope Lutheran Church, 7025 Adamsville Otsego Rd., Adamsville on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mary Molnar officiating.  Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery with Military Honors.
