Bidders stir it up at pie auction

| October 4, 2017

COSHOCTON – The annual pie auction at the Coshocton County Fair typically brings out some spirited bidders to compete for their favorite pie. The auction was held on Monday evening, Oct. 2 at the Rotary Pavilion with a nice crowd in attendance. Local auctioneers devoted their time and talent to raise funds for the bakers and the art hall. The monies raised at the auction are split between the art hall and the bakers. State Representative Larry Householder and his wife Taundra (pictured) had the winning bid on the best of show peach pie baked by Lincoln Humphrey which went for $150. All three Coshocton County Commissioners were on hand to bid on their favorite pie. Pecan, peach, cherry, apple crumb and mixed berry were among the pies entered and sold at the auction. A spirited bidding war – all in good fun – was between one of the auctioneer’s wives and Charlie Wright of Quality Painting for the first place pecan pie baked by Pam McMorrow. At the end, Wright walked away with the pie with a winning bid of $160.
