Camp Echoing Hills invites public to fall festival
WARSAW – Echoing Hills is continuing its 50th anniversary celebration by inviting the public to the Camp Echoing Hills Fall Festival from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14.
“We really want to get people out here and see what we have to offer,” said Lauren Unger, camp administrator. “I don’t think people realize that in the offseason when we don’t have any campers that you can rent our facility. I think we are the best kept secret in Coshocton, but we aren’t trying to be.”
Admission to the fall festival is free and the lineup of family fun activities includes hayrides, carnival games, a bounce house, face painting, crafts and more. Unger also was excited to mention that a massage therapist will have a booth setup and people can enjoy a little relaxation for a donation plus the fishing dock will be open.
Camp Echoing Hills merchandise, Echoing Connections crafts and food will be available for purchase at the fall festival and there will be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing (drawing will be held at 4 p.m.).
“We always definitely want to thank Lions of Ohio who have supported us since the beginning,” Unger said. “Some of the Lions have helped us get ready for this event and we’ve had other volunteers and friends of camp come help us prepare the grounds and get ready.”
Following the fall festival past camp staff and volunteers are invited to a reunion scheduled to start around 4:30 or 5 p.m. As of Oct. 5, more than 150 people signed up to attend the event.
“We’ve been getting responses from staff and volunteers who were here 30 to 40 years ago,” Unger said.
Some of those attending the reunion may remember Unger from when she was a child.
“I started in my position in October 2011, but I was born and raised here,” she said. “My dad was the camp administrator for about 30 years. I’m excited to see a lot of people at the reunion.”
She is also eager to show people how Camp Echoing Hills has changed over the years.
“It will be a nice time for people to come and reminisce and see what’s changed,” Unger said. “Even people who are not able to come have been telling us they wish they could and that camp had an impact on their lives.”
