Tresa L. Markel

COSHOCTON – Tresa Louise Markel, 89, died Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Coshocton Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center, where she was a resident.

She was born Sept. 28, 1928 in Eldred, PA to the late Clarence and Mary (Fitzharris) Bradt.  She married Harold D. Markel on June 14, 1952, who preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 2011.  She was an excellent cook and baker, and she enjoyed canning food as well.  She was a known “prayer warrior”, many times up before dawn to pray for those in need.  Her church testimony was a great inspiration and influenced many friends and family members.

She is survived by four children, Connie (Lanny) Gross of Zanesville, Timothy (Susan) Markel of Coshocton, Faith D’Ostroph of Minerva, and Silas (Judy) Markel of Keene; eight grandchildren, Ben (Rachel) Gross, Matthew Gross, Sarelle Gross, April (Don) Riedel, Nicole (Aaron) Crabtree, Brooke (Bruce) Potts, and Dawn & Duane D’Ostroph; eleven great-grandchildren, Emma, Josiah, Lydia, Claire, Ruthie, & Asa Gross,  Ellington & Carimia Gross, Colton Crabtree, and Cruz & Allie Potts; one brother, Richard (Jean) Bradt of Fairport, NY; one sister, Loretta (Donald) Hirschman of West Henrietta, NY; a son-in-law, Lance Casey of West Lafayette; a brother-in-law, Floyd Markel of Akron; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Casey; one brother, Daniel Bradt; an infant brother; and two brothers-in-law, Kelly & Cecil Markel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2017 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastor Douglas Clark officiating.  Burial will follow in Darling Run Cemetery.  Calling hours are 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.  www.fischerfuneralhome.com
