Coshocton Christian School holds senior volleyball night
COSHOCTON – The volleyball match against Gospel Haven, from Millersburg, held at the Coshocton Christian School on Friday, Oct. 20 wasn’t just another match for one player. Brooke McCune is a senior player and the evening included a ceremony celebrating her accomplishments.
McCune is the only senior player for the Lady Wildcats and has played volleyball for four years. She said she enjoys the game and that playing has taught her the importance of being there for other people and teambuilding. “My first year, the team was really close – like sisters – and being able to play with them was really cool.” While the volleyball team hasn’t had the winning season they would have liked, the girls are having fun together.
After graduation, she plans to attend Penn-View in Pennsylvania, and studying missions. She wants to be a missionary in another country. When asked where she would like to go, she replied, “Wherever God calls me to go.”
Amber Moore has been the volleyball coach for three years. “Brooke is my daughter from another mother. She has a heart of gold and is super sweet.” Moore laughed as she said, “She also gives me a run for my money at times.”
Brooke’s mom, Carolyn McCune said, “When Brooke sets her mind to something, she goes for it.” Carolyn believes playing volleyball has taught her daughter the value of teamwork and what being part of team really means. She also thinks that she has learned to work with other people. “These skills are so important in life.”
“This year has been even more fun to watch because both of my girls are playing.” Brooke has a sister, Abigail, who is a freshman. Carolyn said she is excited to see where Brooke goes in life and what God has planned for her.
