Ridgewood board meets at middle school

WEST LAFAYETTE – The Ridgewood Local School Board met in regular session Friday, Dec. 15, at Ridgewood Middle School in the library with members Marty Feldner, Helen Leindecker, and Cathy McCrea present.

Superintendent, Mike Masloski gave several commendations that included:

  • School Board member John Riebesell’s appointment to the Legislative Platform Committee of the Ohio School Boards Association from Jan. 1, 2018, through Dec. 31, 2018
  • A thank you from Andrea Smith, West Lafayette Branch Manager of the Coshocton Public Library for the donation of yearbooks
  • The maintenance staff for helping with a drainage problem on Fifth and Wall streets, that is an entrance to the rear parking lot of the high school
  • The high school student council students and advisor Julie Feldner, high school cafeteria and custodial staff, Jill Collins and Haley Evans and the drama club students and Syntax Error group for a successful senior citizens luncheon and play presentation.
  • Also congratulated were the middle school and high school members of the choirs and instrumental music groups for wonderful Christmas concerts held on Sunday, Dec. 10.

Donations for the senior luncheon were accepted from Schumaker Farms, Wen Mar Farms, Crazy Aces Trophies, Pearl Valley Cheese, ALR Insurance, Jeff Drennen Ford, Home Loan Savings Bank, Jones Metal, Auer Ace Hardware, and Coshocton County Board of Realtors.

The superintendent’s report was approved as follows: Resignation of April Miller, paraprofessional; Volunteers Paula J. Hathaway, Melissa Kaye McMillan, and Shawnda Shannon; Classified Subs Dawn Ellen Mathews.

Following the meeting, Principal Trista Claxon held a tour of the middle school for members of the board of education and those in attendance. They were entertained by several middle school students. Students performing were the RMS 4-6 Choir led by director Jennifer Shanks and accompanist Jane Crow, The Strive Class enacting their characterization of famous people as in a wax museum led by instructor Andi Dobbins, RMS Honor Society members, and The Secret Kindness Agents – “Under Cover,” conducting acts of kindness for students and staff.

The next regular board meeting will be held Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at the administration building at 301 S. Oak St. FY 2019 budget meeting at 6 p.m., organizational meeting at 6:10 p.m., finance meeting at 6:35 p.m., and regular board meeting at 6:45 p.m.
