Kids America adds indoor golf cages
COSHOCTON – Want to make sure your swing is ready for golf season? Stop by Kids America and try out one of their two new indoor golf cages.
“They are real life replicas of standing on the fairway,” said Paige Lane, executive director at Kids America. “You can hit any club off them (but a putter) and simulate hitting off of the ground or use the rubber tee.”
The fitness and athletic center at 1600 Otsego Avenue added the new attraction in mid-December. The nets were purchased by Kids America and the mats were donated by a patron.
“I believe these are the only golf cages of any kind open to the public that are nearby,” Lane said. “I think the closest ones would be in Newark or Columbus.”
You must bring your own golf clubs, but Kids America will provide you with a bucket of 60 balls to hit.
The gages are open all year long and are free to Kids America members. For non members cost is $6 per time slot of 30 minutes or $50 for 10 time slots.
“You can reserve your time slot if you want or walk in and use them if they are free,” Lane said.
Times available are 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday; and 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
“We want to offer things to people of all ages and golf fits that and we believe it diversifies our offerings,” Lane said. “We’ve already gotten comments about adding a golf simulator or a mock putting green.”
