Benefit being held for the late Kynlee Love
COSHOCTON – Dakota Love was only 22 weeks and four days gestation when she gave birth to a 1 lbs. 1 oz. baby girl. Kynlee Love was born on Nov. 7 and passed away eight days later.
“She just amazed everybody,” said Dakota. “She was trying to breathe on her own. Her ventilator was set at 30, which means that 70 percent of the time, she was breathing on her own. They told me she’d live an hour and she lived eight days. Her stats were amazing. Her oxygen level was great and her heart rate was good.”
It was a perforated bowel that caused Kynlee’s passing only eight days after her birth.
“She was very active,” said Dakota. “When I was still pregnant with her, I couldn’t see her moving yet, but I could definitely feel her. She was kicking and fighting. She was a fighter for sure.”
Dakota and her family, including her husband Josh and mother Tracy Freetage, stayed at the Ronald McDonald House while helping to care for Kynlee.
“Nationwide was amazing with her,” said Dakota. “The NICU was amazing. I couldn’t have asked for better doctors for her.”
Now, Dakota and her family are having a benefit to raise money for a headstone and burial costs.
“Miller Funeral Home didn’t charge us anything for her funeral,” said Dakota. “They donated a casket and they even bought her an outfit for her burial. They let us have as much time with her as we wanted before the service.”
Dakota’s mother echoed her daughter’s feelings about the funeral home.
“I can’t say enough good things about Miller Funeral Home,” she said. “They are very caring people.”
The benefit for Kynlee will be Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Three Rivers Fire Station, 24199 CR 621, Coshocton from 2 – 8 p.m. There will be a spaghetti dinner with salad, bread sticks, dessert and a drink. The price is $10. There will be a Chinese auction, silent auction, and a 50/50 drawing. The silent auction will start at 6 p.m. They will have shirts and bracelets to order as well. The family is still looking for people to sponsor food for the benefit.
