Career center to celebrate 40th anniversary at open house
COSHOCTON – The Coshocton County Career Center’s annual open house will be extra special this year as it celebrates 40 years of building skills and changing lives.
The open house will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at the school and will once again feature educational fun, food and local vendors.
“It’s a great evening and fun community event,” said Doug Nagle, a counselor at the school. “We still are thanking voters for passing our levy and want them to come see the updates we were able to make because of that.”
It’s also a time when prospective sophomores can visit the school with their family and staff can catch up with former students. Those who attend the open house also will be able to buy raffle tickets for a gift basket being put together to celebrate the career center’s anniversary.
The career center themed basket features four hours of building use for the lucky winner plus a donation from each club and program at the school. All proceeds from raffle tickets sold for it will be donated to United Way in honor of the school’s anniversary.
The basket has a value of around $700 and some of the surprises people will win with it are firewood from the natural resource program and FFA, a CPR class, jewelry, spa treatment and much more.
Tickets for the basket will be available at the open house or you can buy them at the school’s front desk or from any career center employee. The lucky winner will be drawn on Friday, March 2.
Nagle encourages community members to not miss the open house.
“There is always something new going on here,” he said. “Come visit the labs, see our new equipment, meet the new faces and catch up with veteran staff.”
Inclement weather date for the event is Thursday, Feb. 22. For more on the career center, visit www.coshoctoncareers.org.
