Padgett running for Ohio GOP central committee
COSHOCTON – Republican Joy Padgett announced her candidacy for a seat on the Ohio Republican Party’s State Central Committee.
Padgett served more than 10 years in the Ohio legislature and in 2016 was chair of Ohio Women for Trump.
“It has never been on my bucket list to be on State Central Committee, but the fact is, voters deserve a conservative candidate who supports and believes in our president,” Padgett said.
The race will be decided May 8, which is the date of this year’s Republican primary.
Padgett, a conservative Republican, has long been a leader for our region and our values.
During her tenure in the legislature, Padgett was a pro-life leader who fought to protect the unborn. Padgett also helped lead efforts to create Ohio’s first concealed-carry law.
The 66-member State Central Committee is the governing body of the Ohio Republican Party. One man and one woman are elected from each of Ohio’s 33 state senate districts. Padgett is running to represent the 31st District, which covers Coshocton, Licking, Perry, Tuscarawas and part of Holmes counties.
