Jones Metal Products Company highlighted
COLUMBUS – Secretary of State Jon Husted announced March as Women-Owned Business Month. Throughout the month, Ohio Business Profile will highlight select businesses from across the state.
It is estimated that there are more than 330,000 women-owned businesses in Ohio and 11.3 million in the United States. In the Buckeye State, these businesses generate more than $43 billion in sales every year.
One of the businesses being profiled is Jones Metal Products Company in West Lafayette, which manufactures components for many markets including aerospace, aircraft, defense, commercial lighting and healthcare. Starting in 1923, they have been privately-owned from the beginning and are currently into their third generation of board leadership. The woman-owned company began as a metal stamping and enameling manufacturer 95 years ago. It evolved into a metal forming company when, in the 1960s, the company purchased its first hydroform machine. It now has a complement of 12 of various sizes, including a new state-of-the-art fluide cell forming machine. The company has been privately-owned from the beginning and has continued into the third generation of board leadership. Capabilities which complement the metal forming operations include 3 and 5 axis machining and laser cutting, CNC lathe turning, aluminum and vacuum heat treating, and laser scanning equipment to produce exact hard tooling specifications from models.
The company manufactures components for many markets, including aerospace, aircraft, defense, commercial lighting, and health care. Certifications include ISO 9001-2008 without design; AS 9100-2009 Revision C; NADCAP for Heat Treating, and ITAR registration. Jones Metal holds a top small business supplier award from Lockheed Martin.
Ohio has given Jones Metal a local workforce that is engaged in its work and willing and able to train to a high level. There are organizations that help foster this: Ohio Means Jobs (identify and screen candidates for employment at the local level); Coshocton County Port Authority (helpful economic development agency); Coshocton Campus of Central Ohio Technical College (higher education and employment training programs); Ohio Safety Congress; BCW (grants and training).
Jones Metal Product Company is located at 200 North Center St., West Lafayette. They currently have 59 employees and have been in business since 1923. For more information, visit their website at www.JonesMetal.com.
Ohio Business Profile was launched in 2011 to highlight Ohio companies that create transformative products, offer outstanding service, contribute to their local communities and employ Ohioans. Each month, a handful of diverse businesses linked together by a common theme are featured on the Secretary of State’s website. Ohioans are encouraged to submit companies they feel are deserving of recognition in future months.
