Killbuck Creek Distillery celebrates grand opening
WARSAW – Killbuck Creek Distillery celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with its grand opening.
“I couldn’t be more excited for this new business and a real tourism destination for Coshocton County,” said Amy Stockdale, executive director of the Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce.
She and other county officials gathered in front of the distillery with owners Rob Ashcraft and Larry Turner for an official ribbon cutting.
“I’ve known Rob a long time and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see the fruits of his labor bring a new business to our community,” said Coshocton County Commissioner Gary Fischer. “I’ve just gotten to know Larry, but I’ve already learned to love him too. I’d wish these guys good luck, but I don’t think they need it.”
Tiffany Swigert, executive director of the Coshocton Port Authority, agreed with Fischer.
“I can’t wait to see where they go from here,” she said. “I think they already have the full support of the community behind them.”
After the ribbon cutting, guests were invited to come in for tastings of the distillery’s white whiskey, rum and vodka. Bottles of each were available for purchase and so was Killbuck Creek merchandise. Lunch also was served as part of the grand opening.
Killbuck Creek Distillery is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and is located at 42879 US 36.
“Come in and visit and see what we have to offer,” Turner said.
He was extremely humbled by the turnout for the grand opening.
“I never thought I would own my own business,” said Turner, a retired Columbus Police officer. “I just thought I would have a life of service and then go fishing.”
He and Ashcraft, however, are using the business to help others. Through their grand opening, the business owners were able to collect money for the Pure Heart Children’s Fund, which helps at risk children in Nicaragua. They also are planning ways to honor the families of fallen first responders.
“Today’s been overwhelming,” Ashcraft said about the open house. “What’s really important though is that we can use events like this to help others.”
