CHS art students share art skills with ODOT

| April 27, 2018

COSHOCTON – Art students from Coshocton High School recently participated in the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Paint the Plow project. “I thought it would be something real different to do since I’ve never painted a plow before,” said Hannah Nelson, a junior at CHS. Joining her in working on the art project were senior Jennifer Wang, junior Spencer Wolfe, junior Amanda Kittel, and senior Elle Coffman. “We kind of based our design on Keith Haring,” Wang said. “He had a focus on figure drawings, being different and using his art to raise awareness about community issues.” Morgan Overbey, public information officer for ODOT District Five, said the Paint the Plow program is a good way for ODOT to engage with the community, let the public know about what they do and give a sense of community pride. “We are hoping this draws more interest in art and spreads positivity in the community,” Nelson said. Wang added that she was proud to be able to use painting, which she loves to do, to spread a positive message. Pictured are art teacher Myrtle Beall, Wolfe, Kittel, Wang, Nelson, and Coffman.
