River View softball picks up victories

COSHOCTON – River View defeated Coshocton 7-1 on April 27 thanks to four runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught came from doubles by Alyssa Thomas and Bella Heddleson.

River View fired up the offense in the second inning, when Heddleson hit a solo homer. The Lady Bears then scored four runs in the third inning. The offensive firepower by River View was led by Thomas and Heddleson, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Thomas got the win for River View. She went seven innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out six.

The Lady Bears collected 10 hits. Heddleson and Lauren Krystek all had multiple hits for River View. Heddleson led River View with three hits in three at bats.

On April 28 River View picked up another run by shutting out Ontario. Peyton Werntz didn’t allow a single run against Ontario, throwing a complete game shutout and leading River View to an 11-0 victory on Saturday.

River View scored five runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught came from home runs by Bella Heddleson and Claire Warschauer.

Werntz took the win for River View. She lasted six innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out five.

River View tallied two home runs on the day. Warschauer had a long ball in the fifth inning. Heddleson had a homer in the fifth inning.

River View tallied 12 hits. Kelsie Williamson, Heddleson, Mikensi Ehlinger, and Werntz each racked up multiple hits. Werntz, Ehlinger, Heddleson, and Williamson each collected two hits to lead River View.

On April 28 they picked up another win over West Homes.

The Lady Bears stole the lead late and defeated West Holmes 12-2. The game was tied at two with River View batting in the bottom of the fourth when Bailey Hettinger singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Hettinger led River View to victory by driving in four runs. She went 3-for-3 at the plate. Hettinger drove in runs on a single in the second, a single in the fourth and a double in the fourth.

Alyssa Thomas pitched River View to victory. She went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out three.

River View collected 16 hits on the day. Hettinger, Mikensi Ehlinger, Lauren Krystek, Gracie Dunlap, and Peyton Werntz each had multiple hits for River View. Ehlinger and Hettinger all had three hits to lead River View.
