Lady Bears split with Marietta
WARSAW – It came down to the last play, but the River View Lady Bears were on the wrong end of a 6-5 defeat to Marietta on May 2.
River View evened things up at three in the top of the third inning when Mikensi Ehlinger grounded out, scoring one run.
Peyton Werntz took the loss for River View. She lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and six runs while striking out five and walking one.
River View had seven hits in the game. Lauren Krystek and Ehlinger all collected multiple hits for River View. Ehlinger and Krystek each managed two hits to lead River View.
In the other game with Marietta, River View’s Alyssa Thomas shut them down, throwing a complete game shutout and leading River View to a 10-0 victory.
River View notched four runs in the fifth inning. The Lady Bears big bats were led by Thomas, Bella Heddleson, Mikensi Ehlinger, and Kelsie Williamson, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Thomas earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for River View. She lasted six innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out 12 and walking zero.
River View racked up 12 hits in the game. Heddleson, Ehlinger, Thomas, and Claire Warschauer all managed multiple hits for River View. Warschauer, Thomas, Ehlinger, and Heddleson each collected two hits to lead River View.
