WARSAW – Another Stewart is headed off to Walsh University to continue their athletic career.

Skyler Stewart, a senior at River View High School, signed her letter of intent to compete with Walsh’s track team on May 16. Earlier this spring her brother Keith committed to Walsh to play football. The graduating set of triplets also includes brother James.

“I’m glad Skyler and Keith are going to be together and I’m happy to get to see her continue on with track,” said their mom Laureen Crossley.

Skyler at first had her sights set on playing volleyball in college at Marietta. However, after her senior cross country season she decided that she wanted to continue on with running.

“They are like a family there at Walsh,” Skyler said. “They are tight and it reminded me a lot of our team here. Cassidi Bookless signed with them too so it will be nice to have a familiar face.”

Skyler ran the 4×100 and 4×200 in high school and high jumped, but isn’t sure what they will have her do in college.

“I want to thank the Donaker family, my mom, my coaches, my friends and family,” Skyler said. “I wouldn’t be the person I am without them.”

Cyrus Granger, one of River View’s track coaches, said Walsh is getting an athlete who is a ball of potential.

“She has the potential to be really phenomenal,” Granger said. “My favorite memories of coaching her though are her high level of energy and excitement when something good happens to her.”

Mike Gray, who also coaches track at River View, said it’s always good to see one of their athletes move on to the next level.

“She sets goals and sticks to her plans to get her there,” he said.

Skyler plans to major in nursing at Walsh.
