Deadline to apply for College Aspire workshop approaching soon

COSHOCTON – Youth ages 15-18 seeking free hands-on, engaging summer workshop may apply to participate in the College Aspire summer workshop program at Central Ohio Technical College (COTC), June 11 – 15. Workshops in entrepreneurship or electrical and solar circuit technology are taught by college faculty on the COTC Coshocton campus.

College Aspire demonstrates to both students and their families that college is accessible in their community and possible regardless of their circumstances. Free bus transportation is available within 10 miles of workshops at the COTC Coshocton and Knox campus locations.

Embrace Your Selfie at the COTC Coshocton Campus in Roscoe Village

Ages 15 – 18: 1 – 4 p.m.

Do you have the next big idea? Imagination is the key to innovation as you plan a business for the future. Kick-start your career and embrace your entrepreneurial spirit through the creation of your own venture plan that showcases your skills, strengths and self-awareness of the world around you. Find inspiration from other entrepreneurs just like you!

Power Up & Go Green! at the COTC Coshocton Campus in Roscoe Village

Ages 15-18: 1 – 4 p.m.

Create electrical and solar circuits and power up by increasing voltage and currents. Examine how to use solar power to produce energy for everyday items like a radio, calculator, battery charger and much more. This engineering workshop is electrifying!

Parents and family are invited to the College Aspire Showcase on Saturday, June 16 at 11a.m. where participants’ work will be featured and accomplishments from the week celebrated. One student in each workshop will be selected as a Shooting Star and awarded a $1,000 scholarship to COTC. Shooting Star Scholarship recipients demonstrate a passion for learning, eagerness to engage with the subject and enthusiasm for continuing his or her education. To use this scholarship, students must enroll in at least six credit hours per semester at COTC, and there is no time limit for utilizing Shooting Star Scholarships.
