Oliver Richard “Dick” Hoffman
WEST LAFAYETTE – Oliver Richard “Dick” Hoffman age 74 of West Lafayette, Ohio died June 14, 2018 at the Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia, Ohio following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday June 18, 2018 at the Free Funeral Home with Rev. John Carlisle officiating. Burial will be at the Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette, Ohio. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
He was born May 17, 1944 in Coshocton, Ohio and was the son of Oliver C. and Allene (Hanna) Hoffman. On December 19, 1965 he married Catherine “Kitty” (Newell) and she survives. In December they would had been married for 53 years. He served in the US Army from 1965-1967 as a member of the 82nd Airborne. He graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1962. He worked from 1962-1979 for Columbus and Southern Electric Company and from 1979-2002 he owned and operated auto salvage yards. He was employed by Riverview Jr. High School as a janitor retiring in 2002. Dick liked anything with wheels and his grandkids.
Surviving in addition his wife are 2 children Rick (Laura) Hoffman of Fresno, Ohio and Ritchie Ann (Dean) Hall of West Lafayette, Ohio; 4 grandchildren Blaine and Ben Hall, Bryce and Brenna Hoffman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
