Mildred “Millie” Eloise (Mowery) Scherer

COSHOCTONMildred “Millie” Eloise (Mowery) Scherer, 92, passed away Tuesday, July 03, 2018 at Signature Healthcare.

She was born Feb. 4, 1926 in Bethlehem Twp.  to the late Walter James and Mary Elizabeth (Zaugg) Mowery. She was a 1943 graduate of Warsaw High School, and graduated from the Coshocton City School of Nursing in 1946. Mildred was a Registered Nurse and worked for over  50 years, retiring from the former Coshocton County Memorial Hospital. She also worked for four years part-time at the office of Dr. A.H. Magness.

Mildred was a 60-plus year member of the Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church, where she was active in Kid’s Club, Vacation Bible School, and teaching Sunday School.

She is survived by three children, Karen (Roy) Mizer of Warsaw, Anita Pearch of New Philadelphia, and Keith (Trudy) Scherer of Zanesville; a Daughter-in-law: Cheryl Scherer of Baltic; her grandchildren, Andy (Darcey) Mizer of Coshocton, Julie Mizer of  Dublin, Lindsay (Mark) LaSala of Hilliard, Ben (Nicole) Pearch of Wadsworth, Chris (Beverly) Pearch of Gnadenhutten, Stephanie (Mark) Lorenz of New Albany, Jason (Deana) Scherer of Fresno, and Sara (Steve) Sargent of Lancaster; her great-grandchildren,  Allison Mizer, Charlotte & Cooper LaSala, Clayton & Scarlett Pearch, Connor, Camryn & Collin Pearch, Nicholas & Joel Lorenz, Brodie (Ashlynd), Brendan & Piper Scherer, and Doyle & Porter Sargent; one great-great-grandchild expected, Oliver Scherer; step-granddaughters, Alisha (Keith) Scott, Christy Fahner, LeAnna Carter; fifteen step-great-grandchildren;  a sister,  Margaret Cullison of Warsaw; a brother, Ward (Anita) Mowery of Louisville, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Scherer; a grandchild, Christopher Scherer; two brothers, John & Robert Mowery; a sister-in-law, June Mowery; and two brothers-in-law, Gene Brenneman & Jack Cullison.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church. Rev. Wesley George officiated. Burial was in Prairie Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. The Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw handled arrangements.
