COSHOCTON – In just a few short weeks, the Coshocton County Fairboard put together a well attended Fourth of July celebration they hope to make bigger and better next year.

“We had a ton of people,” said Mary Knicely, fairboard secretary. “It was the greatest turnout ever.”

The celebration was held July 3 at the fairgrounds and included vendors, inflatables, face painting, a DJ and wrapped up with the fireworks show at 10 p.m.

“We are definitely going to try to do it again next year and hopefully we will have a little more time to get more vendors and activities,” Knicely said. “We really want to build it up.”

When Knicely started getting calls at the fairboard office about the lack of a fireworks show in our community this year she brought the concern to the May board meeting.

“We had very little time to get going, but I called Adam Fischer because I knew him and asked about the possibility of doing fireworks here,” Knicely said. “He was on a deadline too and had to order them that week, but he and Dean Hettinger were able to put a show together.”

The show was possible because of generous donations from the community that came in before the event and the day of it.

“We took donations at the gate and people were really receptive to that,” Knicely said. “We want to thank the public for supporting us. We already have money to get started for next year now, but we will continue to do fundraising.”

Anyone wishing to donate toward the 2019 fireworks show can send donations to the fairboard office at 707 Kenilworth Ave., Coshocton, OH 43812.
