Tractor show features Allis Chalmers

COSHOCTON – The Buckeye Allis Club of Ohio helped the Coshocton County Antique Power Association turn its annual show into a sea of orange.
“I think there were between 25 and 30 Allis Chalmers tractors here and a lot of them came from people who are part of both clubs,” said David Blackstone, who belongs to the Buckeye Allis Club of Ohio.
The Coshocton Antique Power Association Annual Summer Show was held July 14-15 at the fairgrounds and featured the orange Allis Chalmers tractors with the help of Blackstone’s club. The Buckeye Allis Club has members from all over Ohio and participates in shows throughout the state.
“I like meeting other people with the same interests,” Blackstone said. “Whether you are a John Deere or Ford Club we are all after the same thing which is preserving the antiques and letting people see what was in the past.”
Another Buckeye Allis Club of Ohio member who participated in the show was Dwayne Ross, who also is from New Concord.
“I was a (Allis Chalmers) dealer in Cambridge for 35 years,” Ross said. “They have a lot of power and are easy to handle.”
While there was a lot of orange at the show, Allis Chalmers tractors weren’t the only ones on display. A variety of other makes and models were there and so was a very special pink one.
The annual tractor show may have featured the orange Allis Chalmers, but there were other makes and models there like this special pink Massey – Harris Pony. “The Survivor” was painted by Jim Childress for his wife Evelyn Childress who is a breast cancer survivor.
The Massey – Harris Pony tractor is for display only and the name of the color it’s painted is actually called Breast Cancer Pink.
“I was honored that he did it,” Evelyn said.
The next event for the Coshocton County Antique Power Association is the West Lafayette Homecoming Parade, which will be held Friday, July 27 in West Lafayette.
