Coshocton Footlight Players announce 70th season

| August 3, 2018

COSHOCTON – The Coshocton Footlight Players proudly announce the 2018-2019 season, marking 70 years of continuous community theater.

The season kicks off with “Here on the Flight Path”, directed by Susan Metz Guthrie. This smart, hilarious comedy by Norm Foster features a wise-cracking, back-porch philosopher guy on an apartment balcony next to three different female neighbors. One never knows if he will charm, seduce, or offend the ladies as he explores life in an apartment, directly in the flight path of the local airport. Sometimes, location is everything!

Auditions are scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 12, 2 p.m., at the Triple Locks Theater, 685 N. Whitewoman Street.

Parts are available for four characters, one man age 30-60, and three women ages 20-60. Performance dates are Oct. 5-6, 12-13, 19-20 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 14 at 2 p.m.

Next in the line-up is “Funny Valentines”, directed by Nathan Mayse. In this delightful farce by D.R. Andersen, a children’s book author is confronted with surprises around every corner from his agent, a contract lawyer, and his ex-wife.

Auditions are scheduled for Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. and Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at Triple Locks Theater with parts for two males ages 20s-30’s, two females ages 20’s-30’s, and one female age 50’s-60’s. Performance dates are Nov. 30, Dec. 1, 7-8, 14-15 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.

The third production of the season, “Beer For Breakfast”, directed by Kathy Reid, is a raucous Sean Grennan comedy, featuring a group of middle-aged buddies reuniting for a guys’ weekend. When the party is crashed by the wife of an absent friend, an epic battle of the sexes ensues.

Auditions will be held for “Beer for Breakfast” on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019 at 2 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Triple Locks Theater. Roles are available for three males and one female, middle-aged. Performance dates are March 1-2, 8-9, 15-16 at 8 p.m. and March 10 at 2 p.m.

The final show of the season, directed by Samantha Servais, is “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”. One of the darkest musicals ever written, this Stephen Sondheim musical thriller is considered one of the composer’s most perfect scores. “Sweeney Todd” is full of black comedy laughs and dark humor, seasoned with a touch of terror, and set beautifully against a backdrop of operatically lush music. Auditions will be held Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. and Jan. 21 at 7 p.m., location to be announced. Performance dates are May 3-4, 10-11, 17-18 at 8 p.m. and May 12 at 2 p.m.
