A.C.t.T.T. program accepting applications for next semester
COSHOCTON – The Advancing Coshocton through Technical Training (A.C.t.T.T.) program is pleased to announce they are accepting registration for a new cohort of participants, and is introducing an incumbent worker training programs. They are also celebrating the success of its first ACtTT cohort, whom will move onto their next semester of technical training.
This successfully-funded grant initiative was designed to prepare skillfully-trained individuals with an interest in or experience in mechanical or electrical technology; individuals with a mechanical mindset and technical abilities as industrial technicians. Those who have family, friends, or staff members seeking upskilling or retooling in technical training can benefit from the program. It’s an ideal pathway for everyone from the current or former Career Center students, and those seeking gainful employment or advancement, to the high school junior or senior who may be undecided about his/her career path after graduation.
For those wishing to take part in the technical training A.C.t.T.T. program, a new semester begins this fall, with courses in: AutoCAD, Computer Applications, and Technical Drawing. Those who completed semester one over the summer will be moving into semester two courses: DC Circuits, Electric/Industrial Motors and PLC, and AutoCAD Electrical/Designing and Print reading.
In collaboration between Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and the Coshocton County Career Center, majority of courses take place at the Coshocton Campus of COTC, 200 N. Whitewoman St. in Roscoe Village. Some will be at the Career Center.
This semester’s courses will be held after 3:30 p.m. to best accommodate after-school and after first shift schedules.
Each semester contains just three or four different technical training modules, and over one year, each successful candidate will be connected to area employers, so both the participant and the partner employers may find the perfect fit.
A.C.t.T.T. is not just open to traditional students and it’s not just open to factories/manufacturers. For example, many sectors employ skilled technicians from hospitals and municipalities, to property management and technical companies.
If you have staff members with growth potential, and they might have an opportunity for advancement after receiving such training, they are welcome to participate as well.
The employer-focused, incumbent worker tracks offer customized options in advanced technical and/or leadership development training. This is being offered directly to employers who are recognizing employees with leadership potential. The concept is to train them for advancement, perhaps to crew leaders or into new supervisory roles; thus backfilling their positions with a newly-skilled labor-force. They have some incredible traction on this.
One of the exciting new options is a leadership academy called “Manufacturing Leaders in Manufacturing.”
Registration for participation in all of this free training is simple and takes about 90 seconds. They will be sharing an active link early next week, and the deadline to apply for autumn semester training will be Sept. 7.
