Sorrell’s setting regular hours

COSHOCTON – Gary and Katie Sorrell are hoping to wow the community with their restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere and yummy comfort food.
“We want someone who comes in from putting up hay at their farm to feel as welcome as a group of prom kids and we feel like our décor fits that,” Gary said.
Sorrell’s on the Square, located at 119 N. Third St., has an industrial farmhouse feel and features pictures of local farms.
“We talked to everyone whose farms we pictured,” Gary said. “I think it helps tie together what we are going for.”
The menu includes quality homemade food like their macaroni and cheese, specials such as chicken and noodles, salads, beer battered fish, burgers and New York Style Cheesecake.
“Our cheesecake is second to none,” Gary said. “I don’t think you’ll find a table that doesn’t have a piece on it or has one on the way. I make it and it really is a labor of love. It takes a lot of time to make, but we are happy everyone wants this style of cheesecake.”
Gary also owns an organizational development and consulting company, but is a chef by trade and has operated restaurants in the Akron/Canton area.
“We built the kitchen in our home just so I could cook,” he said. “It’s my passion. Opening a restaurant here in Coshocton is something we’ve been looking into for years.”
Gary and Katie own the building they are located in and spent nine and a half months renovating it.
“The community has been fantastic and met us with open arms as we’ve worked through our training,” he said.
Sorrell’s has been operating under pre-grand opening hours, but this week will have set hours. They plan to be closed on Mondays and open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
“We are going to try those hours and see how they work,” Gary said.
