New bed and breakfast opening in Roscoe

COSHOCTON – Rick Conkle is honoring his late grandmother by turning her home into a bed and breakfast.
Grandma’s Bed & Breakfast is located at 481 Hill Street in Roscoe Village. A grand opening ceremony will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6.
“My grandmother (Lennis March) grew up in Roscoe and my grandpa (Ernie March) built the house,” Conkle said. “Mom (Janice Conkle) grew up here back in the 40s with her sister (Eileen Hardesty).”
The two bedroom, one bath home will be decorated to fit the era of the house. It will sleep up to six people and be available for $125 a night.
“It’s a small house, but you get the whole house,” said Nancy Conkle, who is helping her husband with the bed and breakfast.
Guests will receive a complimentary bottle of wine and homemade pie on their first night. There will be a continental breakfast and the house comes with appliances and pots and pans so guests can prepare their own meals.
“I tried to think about what I like to have when I’m on vacation because we want this to be like home,” Nancy said.
They also plan to make sure their guests are aware of special events in Roscoe and how close they are to unique shopping and dining experiences.
The couple’s daughter-in-law Jenny Dovenbarger is setting up their Facebook page where they will post information about the bed and breakfast and Roscoe.
“You will be able to pay for reservations through PayPal and through Facebook messenger,” she said. “We also are going to play a game once a month on Facebook where we will draw for a free night’s stay.”
Granny’s Lucky Number contest will start on Oct. 6. For $10 contestants can pick a number from 1-15. Dovenbarger will then record and post a video of Rick and Nancy picking the lucky number.

“I think his grandmother would feel honored that he valued the house and cared about it enough to do this,” Nancy said.
