Robert Allen Gress
Robert Allen Gress, age 93, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Morrison House in Zanesville. He was born on November 18, 1924 to the late Matthew D. and Bertha (Wilcox) Gress in Muskingum County. On June 10, 1950 he married Edythe (Cunningham) Gress, who passed away in 2015. He worked at the Coshocton Lumber Company for 46 years. He was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church where he was a church trustee for 40 years. He loved all the activities that took place at the church. He enjoyed yard work and flowers, wood working and the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his children, Brent (Jo) Gress and Linda (Jim) Cope; one grandchild, Carrie Gress and two great-grandchildren, Aleczander and Chandra Gress; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Eunice (Wendell) Huhn; niece, Wendy (JB) Woodard and nephew, Terry Ray (Amanda) Ruggles as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his seven brothers and eight sisters and a granddaughter, Jamie Cope-Cowger.
The family would like to give a special thanks to The Oaks at Bethesda for their wonderful care and the neighbors and friends of Plainfield.
Calling hours will be Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 1pm with Pastor John Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at the Plainfield Cemetery.
