Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce to host healthcare/first responders day

| October 9, 2018

COSHOCTON –We want to connect our businesses with the future generation of employees to make sure they understand that there are good jobs in Coshocton County. Our Manufacturing Day has been a big success, but we know that does not touch all of the youth in schools, so we decided to add a Healthcare/First Responders Day for the area schools. The Coshocton Regional Medical Center, Coshocton Fire Department, Coshocton County Emergency Medical Service, State Highway Patrol, Coshocton County Sheriff, and Central Ohio Technical College will all be opening their doors to our area high schools students to expand their knowledge of what it takes to have a career in one of these fields.

“The Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce along with business partners from the Coshocton Port Authority and Ohio Means Jobs-Coshocton County learned first-hand during industry visits with local companies of the challenges they face in hiring skilled employees, so thought exposing our area youth to the outstanding careers would be very beneficial to both the students and organizations,” said Amy Stockdale, Executive Director of the Coshocton County Chamber.

This first-year event has over 120 students signed up into one of the two fields of healthcare or first responders. Students will have first-hand demonstrations, hear from professionals and learn what types of trainings are needed for careers in these areas of study.

“We have heard loud and clear from our local organizations that there in an increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in healthcare, so we have also included COTC to be involved with the day’s activities to share their programs with the youth,” said Stockdale.

Coshocton Regional Medical Center will be doing a hands-on tour of different departments and relating the experience back to jobs. The First Responders sector will be touring the City Fire Station and hearing from Coshocton County EMS as well. They will have the opportunity to see our local K-9 division execute demonstrations and learn the training needed to become successful in these career fields.
