Thomas W. Helmick
WARSAW – Thomas Wayne Helmick, 53, of 18456 CR 54, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018 at his home.
He was born June 22, 1965 in Coshocton to the late Charles D. Helmick, Sr. and Alice I. (Degarmo) Helmick Culver. He was a 1983 graduate of River View High School, and attended the auto body program at the Coshocton Co. Career Center. After graduation, he went to the Denver Automotive & Diesel Mechanic School with his best friend, Tim Brillhart. Upon returning home, he was the owner & operator of the former Tom’s Body Shop in Nellie. He sold that business to become a full time over-the-road truck driver and part-owner of Walhonding Valley Sand and Gravel.
Tom loved working on trucks, going to car shows, spending time with his grandkids taking them fishing, and being with family.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah L. (Moran) Helmick of Warsaw, whom he married June 21, 2010; his daughter, Jena R. Helmick (fiancé Nick Colby) of North Kingsville; two step-sons, Joseph B. Stevens (fiancé Kristinia Kuhn) of Cooperdale, and Justin B. Stevens of Wakatomika; three grandkids, Kaedin & Peyton Mills, and Bowen B. Stevens, all of Warsaw; three sisters, Janet (Jack) Myers of Warsaw, Charlotte (Dennis) Thompson of Coshocton, and Doris (Mark) Granger of Coshocton; four brothers, Charles (Ruby) Helmick, Robert (Janet) Helmick, twin-brother Tim (Melissa) Helmick, and Ezra (Nicole) Helmick, all of Warsaw; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger D. Helmick.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastor Mark Granger officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12th at the funeral home. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
