Beginning Air Rifle

Beginning Air Rifle teaches basic marksmanship skills that can be applied to many other shooting disciplines. The importance of proper sight picture, trigger control, and breath control to shooting accurately are covered. All students will shoot off of a rest to increase the safety of the activity and assist them in shooting consistently, accurately, and develop a group of shots on the target. The different types of rifle, pistol, and shotgun actions are discussed during the safe gun handling topic. Types of rifle and pistol competition are covered for individuals and families. Safety is a constant theme of this class, often covering the four safety rules and proper/safe gun handling techniques. CO2 pellet rifles are used in an indoor setting. This class is a prerequisite for the Air Pistol and Position Air Rifle class. Classes meet on Monday evenings starting Jan. 7 for six weeks. Cost is $20 and air rifles are provided. Limit of 12 per class. Participants must be at least nine years old and in the third grade.

Position Shooting Air Rifle

This class expands on the basic marksmanship skills taught in the Beginning Air Rifle. Standing, sitting, kneeling, and prone positions are taught instead of shooting off of a rest. These positions are used in Precision Air Rifle, Small Bore Rifle, and High Power Rifle Competition. Proper use of a rifle sling while in a solid position and other shooting equipment are explained and used.  Very accurate CO2 Pellet Target rifles are used. Students should be strong enough to hold the rifle while shooting, after practicing each position, using good bone support. Classes meet on Tuesday evenings for eight weeks starting Jan. 8. Cost is $20 and air rifles are provided. Limit of four per class. Participants must be at least 10 years of age and physically capable of safely handling the advanced air rifle.

Air Pistol

The Air Pistol class builds on and continues with the basic marksmanship skills taught in the Beginning Air Rifle class. The safety rules taught in Beginning Air Rifle are reviewed and expanded. The students will experience more shooting in this class due to their previous experience with the Beginning Air Rifle class. CO2 Air Pistols are used, shooting off of the same rest used in the Beginning Rifle Class. Air Pistol classes meet on Monday evenings starting Jan. 7 for six weeks. Cost is $20, with a class limit of 12. Participants must be at least nine years of age and in the third grade.

Archery I

The Archery I class is for beginner archers designed to improve and refine the correct form and fundamentals of the sport. The goal is to get shooters grouping and scoring which will allow individuals to see and track progress as their time in class continues. Youth will gain confidence, team building, interpersonal skills, and establish a lifetime of interest in the sport of archery. Archery I classes meet on Sunday afternoons starting Jan. 6 for six weeks. Cost is $20 with a limit of 15 youth. Equipment is provided but youth may bring their own equipment to use with instructor approval. Participants must be at least nine years old and in the third grade.

Archery II
