Lister Reed Endsley
Lister Reed Endsley, age 102 of Coshocton, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018. He was born on August 10, 1916 to the late Edward B. and Mable (Reed) Endsley. After graduating from Keene School in 1934, Lister farmed with his father in Millcreek Township on Chestnut Ridge. Lister enlisted in the United States Army and served from September 1942 to November 1945. As a Sergeant in the 115th AAA Gun Battalion, serving as a radar crewman in the European Theatre, he saw action in five major battles including the Invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Purple Heart for injuries incurred in World War II.
On February 14, 1946 Lister married Lola (Foster) Endsley who survives. Lister and Lola were fortunate to enjoy nearly 73 years of marriage. Lister was a member of Keene United Methodist Church, Keene Hill Grange, Coshocton County Farm Bureau, Coshocton County Board of Realtors, and Keene Emergency Ambulance Service. He served as a board member of Coshocton Hospital, a longtime member of the Coshocton County Sr. Fair Board, and a District Supervisor for the Soil Conservation Service. Lister was a Realtor, insurance agent and owner of the Foster-Endsley Agency, now known as the Endsley Agency, retiring at the age of 96. Lister had a lifelong passion for agriculture beginning at an early age in 4-H to farming on the family farm in Keene Township until his late 90’s.
Lister is survived by his wife Lola and his three children, Larry (Tina) Endsley of Coshocton, Linda (Craig) Woods of Marietta, and Rodney Endsley of Dover. He is survived by seven grandchildren, Jocelyn (Rob) Mulvaney of Hilliard, Chad (Katy) Endsley of Baltimore, Todd (Leanne) Endsley of Coshocton, Evan Woods of Denton, Texas, Shawn (Jessica) Woods of Belpre, Michael (Rachel) Fearon of Greenville, and Ashley (Shawn) Ellwood of New Philadelphia. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, Noelle & Kinsley Mulvaney, Caroline, Lily, & Austin Endsley, Adalynn, Grayson, Eloise, & Ethan Endsley, Claire & Audrey Woods, Madelyn, Seth, & Edee Fearon, Kayne & Karter Ellwood and another great grand baby due in January.
Lister is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Doris (Arthur) Geese, Elizabeth (George) Zimmer, Ardis (David) Postle, and Dorothy (Ward) Hardesty, and a great grandson, Koby Fearon.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 18th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 11:00 am at Keene United Methodist Church, with Reverend Dairel Kaiser officiating. Burial will follow at Keene Cemetery with the Coshocton County Veterans Council Honor Guard conducting military honors.
