Covic Connection moves to South Lawn Avenue

| January 16, 2019

COSHOCTON – When he was 14-years-old, Chris Covic detailed his first car – a Jeep Cherokee owned by Steve Murray. He did such a wonderful job that Murray told someone else to take their car to him. The word spread and 39 years later, Covic is still doing what he enjoys.

“I have to sit behind a desk a lot now. If I don’t do this, my employees won’t have jobs. I miss doing the hands-on stuff, but once in a while I do get to help with big projects,” said Covic.

He started his car-detailing business in his parents’ driveway when he was 14. At 16, he worked for Sandry Services cleaning a bank on Fourth Street in Coshocton.  “I had so much respect for Jim (Sandry) – he was a great man.”  When Sandry passed away, Covic purchased the cleaning business from his wife.

About 10 years ago, he purchased Republic Industrial Supplies. They sell toilet paper, janitorial supplies, etc to businesses. They also sell local pools the chlorine they need to keep the water clean.

Covic Connection is a very diversified business. Besides car detailing, they offer cleaning services to homes and businesses, install flooring, sell the cleaning products and even offer small handyman services, such as painting a room or hanging pictures. Their website has a complete list of all of their services. They also have a Facebook page for more information.

“In late summer or early fall, I hope to open a bigger office and a warehouse in Zanesville. We have some contracts there and are hoping to expand to other counties, like Licking, soon, too,” said Covic. “But, Coshocton is my home. We aren’t leaving here. We just wrapped up our best year ever.”

Covic said Terry Darr from M2 Drive Thru approached him about wanting to purchase his building on Seventh Street. “I had a plan to move in a few years, but I told him I wasn’t interested in selling. We ended up talking, negotiating a little and we moved sooner than planned. God has a plan for us.”

Covic moved his business back to South Lawn Avenue and has been busy renovating and setting up the new office. “We are growing all the time. You have to be diverse in the business world. This is a great country where if you are willing to work hard, you can succeed. We’ve been very blessed.”

Covic Connection is now located at 618 Rear South Lawn Ave. They are open Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and can be reached by calling 740-622-1514.
