Elmo D. Dudley
Elmo D. Dudley, 80, Coshocton, previously of Port Washington, Cambridge, and Old Town, Florida, passed away Friday, March 1, at the Community Hospice House, New Philadelphia, after a short illness.
Elmo was born March 13, 1932 in Cambridge, Ohio to the late Arthur and Leola Schultice Dudley. He attended Byesville and Cambridge schools. Elmo served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War as a boiler technician aboard the D. D. 672. He was a farmer and worked at the former RCA and NCR factories in Cambridge as an inspector. He also was a self-employed woodworker while living in Florida. Elmo belonged to both the Port Washington and Newcomerstown Senior Citizens.
Elmo was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy (Brick) Dudley, fiancé Betty Glazer, sister Bernadine, and his brothers-in-law.
He is survived by his sister, Iona, three daughters and their spouses, three granddaughters, one grandson, four nieces, two nephews, two sisters-in-law, and numerous cousins.
In keeping with Elmo’s wishes, there were no public visiting hours. A private family service was held on Tuesday, March 5, at the Salem-Union Cemetery, Port Washington. The family is suggesting that memorial contributions be made in Elmo’s name to the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Steeple Restoration Fund, PO Box 36, Port Washington 43837.
