Shop, sell, or volunteer at new children’s resale event
WARSAW – If you have clothes your children have outgrown, toys that just aren’t being played with anymore, or need to update your children’s wardrobe then the Coshocton County Kids Stuff Sale is for you.
The sale will be held Monday through Thursday, March 18-21, at New Beginnings Ministries in Warsaw. Drop off time for sellers is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 17. Shopping starts from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 18. Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, March 19-20. Half price shopping for anything marked with a star is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 21.
“I participated in a sale like this in Sugarcreek and have been doing that for five to six years,” said Kelly Loper, who is coordinating the sale. “I saw how it helped their community and brought people together. It created lots of neat relationships within the community. I thought this would be something good for here and I know lots of families would benefit from it.”
Items that may be sold at the sale include: Clothing for infants to junior, toys, books, room décor, craft items, bedding, strollers, high chairs, etc.
“Basically anything that kids can use can be sold, but we will only take car seats that are part of a set with a stroller,” Loper said.
Anyone interested in becoming a seller is encouraged to message the Coshocton County Kids Stuff Sale Facebook page. Loper will need your name, address, phone number and preference for a seller number. The Facebook page has information on how to tag your items.
“We want to make sure we all do it the same way so it’s streamlined,” Loper said. “It’s helpful if you put as much information as possible on the tag so if it gets lost we can correctly match it back with your item.”
So far about 15 people have signed up to be sellers and more are welcomed. Sellers must make sure their items are tagged and that all clothing is clean and free of stains or rips. They also are responsible for picking up their items from 2 to 5 p.m. on March 21. Any items not picked up by 5 p.m. on that date will be donated to charity. Loper would appreciate advance notice if people do not want their items back.
Sellers will receive 75 percent of their profit. If they choose to sign up to volunteer during the sale, that number increases to 80 percent. Information on how to volunteer is located on the event Facebook page. Another benefit of volunteering is being able to take part in a preview shopping event from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 17. They also get to do half price shopping in advance from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 20.
“Even if you don’t plan on selling you can contact our page if you want to be a helper,” Loper said.
A concession stand featuring cookies, snacks and drinks will be set up throughout the sale. Money raised from this will be used to help children in need.
The sale is open to the public to be sellers, helpers, and or shoppers. Cash and personal checks only will be accepted.
Loper plans to hold the Coshocton County Kids Stuff Sale twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall.
“We are doing this to benefit the community,” Loper said. “We want to help families out by providing a way to pass on gently-used items.”
