Men’s Conference held at Tabernacle
COSHOCTON – The third annual men’s conference was held at the Coshocton Christian Tabernacle on Saturday morning, March 2 with nearly 70 men representing churches from all over Coshocton County in attendance. The theme of the event was Men of Truth & Wisdom focusing on Proverbs 3 with two main speakers, Pastor Chris Cutshall of Fresno Bible Church and Pastor Rod Uhlig of Burt Avenue Wesleyan Church. Several breakout sessions were also held throughout the morning with area pastors leading the discussions and prayer.
Cutshall said, “Love your kids – don’t widen the plate,” using home plate as a reference point as a pitcher needs to hit a 17 inch strike zone. “Where do we get a teachable spirit that’s wide open to truth and wisdom? It’s found in humility.”
Uhlig used the personality of Samson and said, “The way we live says so much more than what we say. Ask God for the power because we don’t have it. How bad do we want it? Samson was always able to pull himself up by his bootstraps – but there comes a time in our life when we can’t pull ourselves up by our bootstraps.”
Chuck Ellis spoke about the mission of the Gideon’s, who had a display set up and those in attendance watched a video about the impact of the Gideon’s around the world. William Johnson also spoke about the mission of the Coshocton County Fatherhood Initiative and had a display that provided statistics on the number of homes in the nation without a father.
Stan Zurowski, who headed up the planning committee for the event, said, “I think the Lord spoke through our two main speakers – the word of God was in their hearts and now it’s important that we take it and do something with it.”
