RV’s Warschauer signs letter of intent for Muskingum

WARSAW – River View senior Claire Warschauer signed her letter of intent to play softball at Muskingum University on Thursday evening, March 7 in the high school library as coaches, family, friends and teammates watched.
Dad Michael said, “I’m excited and I’m proud and I’m thrilled for Claire. She played two years of rec ball and she played four years of travel ball with the Honey Badgers and then four years counting this summer with the Roadrunners. She has put her heart and soul into it. She’s been a real go getter and disciplines herself. I’d like to see Claire use her God given talents and continue to develop them and just enjoy the college experience.”
Mother Elizabeth said, “It’s exciting. She’s worked really hard for this since the time she was 10. She loves the sport, she loves her teammates and every team she’s been on – she is just realizing the dream. I’m looking forward to watching her play. She’s going to be close and we’ll be able to celebrate it with her. The district final last year is a high point – she played an outstanding game defensively and made the final out of the game and the solo home run to win the game 1-0. That was exciting and it was a thrill. I’m just really grateful for the opportunity she has.”
Claire said, “This is a combination of all the hard work I’ve put into my softball career. After playing for a local traveling team for a few years I started playing for the Roadrunners and all of those coaches, along with the River View coaches, have taught me everything I know. I’d like to thank my teammates, they’ve pushed me to be who I am today and they make me better every day in practice whether that’s with my travel team or my school team, my coaches for teaching me how to do the game, and my parents, family and friends for supporting me through this whole endeavor. It’s been a ride. I’m looking forward to continuing to play the game I love.”
River View softball coach Bonnie Infante said, “This makes us very happy. Claire is a hard worker and she deserves this more than anybody and we’re just happy that she’s going to go play and represent our team at a higher level. Muskingum is getting a workhorse. She will do things until its perfect. A total team player.”
River View High School principal Chuck Rinkes said, “We’re really proud of Claire. She’s worked really hard to get to this point and put a ton of time in for both soccer and softball. With Muskingum being my alma mater I’m very excited for her to don the magenta and be a Muskie in the coming months. She’s been a leader since she walked in the high school day one – even as a freshman. She’s put herself in a position to do this and she had lots of choices but she chose to stay close. The whole Black Bear community is just really proud of what she’s accomplished and what she will accomplish in the future.”
