Final Lenten Luncheon of the 50th season announced
COSHOCTON – The final Coshocton County Lenten Lunch of the season will be on Wednesday, April 10 from 11:45 a.m. – 12:50 p.m., in the fellowship hall of The Presbyterian Church, 142 North Fourth Street, Coshocton. The soups, pies, and workers will be provided by The Presbyterian Church, Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, and the Warsaw United Methodist Church. Church Women United will prepare crackers, vegetables, cheese, and beverages. The suggested donation is $5; any proceeds after expenses will go to Church Women United for their “clothe a child” project.
Following the meal, a hymn will be sung, accompanied by pianist Janet Hardesty, and Cindy Stockdale will provide special music. The Reverend Dale Sutton, pastor of Roscoe United Methodist Church will introduce the speaker, the Reverend Dairel Kaiser, pastor of the Keene United Methodist Church, who will speak on “Sorrowful Water” [John 20:11-18].
First held at the First Baptist Church in Coshocton, growing crowds at the weekly Lenten Lunches resulted in a move to The Presbyterian Church in 1986 to provide more seating and more parking places. Originally organized by a committee of the Coshocton County Council of Churches, a small committee has provided the leadership in recent years, in cooperation with Church Women United. Twenty-two county churches are involved in this year’s Lenten Luncheon series.
“Lord of the Waters” is the theme for the 50th anniversary series of the Coshocton County Lenten Lunches, and the six-week series will conclude with this luncheon on April 10.
