Cub Scouts have annual derby

| May 10, 2019

COSHOCTON – Cub Scout Pack 406 of Coshocton had their annual Pinewood Derby on Saturday, April 6, at Burt Avenue Wesleyan Church. There were 12 boys that participated this year. Cub Master, Mike Paisley said, “The boys did a great job making their derby cars. They had a lot of fun this year and every year the derby cars get better and better.” The Cub Scout builds a Pinewood Derby car starting with a block of wood and a simple set of wheels and axles. The Scout whittles or sands the car into whatever shape they choose. Awards were given to the top four fastest cars.

Star Brite Car Wash, Coshocton Break & Supply, and Coshocton Tire all donated items to be raffled off at the derby. Paisley said, “We can’t thank these businesses enough. It is wonderful that we have such a great community that is willing to donate items to help out the Scouts. Money raised will go towards the summer camps for the Scouts.” For those interested in joining Cub Scouts, call Paisley at 740-221-3155. Meetings are held Mondays from 6 to 7 p.m.
