WEST LAFAYETTE – Coach Kirby Shivers recently resigned his position as head softball coach at Ridgewood High School to spend more time with his family.

Shivers has dedicated the last 25 years to Ridgewood’s softball program (21 years as head coach and four years as an assistant) tirelessly devoting his time to build the program into a contender.  “His time and effort working on our softball field ensuring the best possible playing experience for our girls has not gone unnoticed,” said Matt Colvin, assistant principal/activities director at RHS. “We have had numerous compliments on our field that has earned us the opportunity to host tournament games over the last few years. Anyone who knew Coach Shivers knew that if you wanted to find him, the first place to check was the ball field.”

Shivers ends his career with an overall record of 266 wins and 271 losses.

“I am going to miss having Coach Shivers lead our young ladies because he always had their best interest at heart,” Colvin said. “I will cherish the conversations him and I had over the past four years as he was always looking for ways to improve his program. Thank you Coach Shivers not only for instilling quality character building attributes in our student athletes, but also for the professionalism you carried yourself with.”
