Kamp Kiwanis to be held at Kids America
COSHOCTON – There is a new summer day camp option for children in our community thanks to the Kiwanis Club of Coshocton and Kids America.
Kamp Kiwanis will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 8-12 at Kids America.
“We approached Kids America about doing this because we felt it was something that was needed in the community,” said Kelly Bratton from Kiwanis. “I was thinking about working parents. We have a lot of activities here but sometimes it’s hard for working parents to get their kids to them.”
The camp is for children ages 5-12 and cost is $35 for the whole week.
“We tried to make it as affordable for as many people as possible,” Bratton said.
Campers will be fed breakfast, lunch, and a snack and enjoy a wide variety of activities throughout the week.
“We have the camp packed full of everything we can,” Bratton said. “Myself, Missy Grimmett, and Isaac Bush (from Kids America) have done a lot of planning for it. Kids America will have some staff helping and there also will be volunteers coming to make events happen that week.”
There will be games, sessions on sports, dance and cheerleading, and several guest speakers coming to share their talents with the campers.
“We are very fortunate that local area high school coaches are willing to volunteer and bring some high school athletes with them to help,” Bratton said. “These kids have the chance to be good positive role models. It will be nice to see the younger ones being helped by the older ones.”
