Here we go! It’s time for several hundred brave souls to endure the Indian Mud Run! With lots of rain forecast for this week mudders should be pleased that the event will live up to its namesake. If you’re on the other end of the spectrum, and trying to make hay, this will be another challenging week. Hopefully our area farmers and all those that make hay will get a few days of sunshine to get this very important task done.

Here’s hoping you had an enjoyable Father’s Day. It’s always a blessing to be with family and those that you love and hold dear. Yep, it was hamburgers on the grill, baked beans and the usual assortment of goodies that go with that. Then, to top it off we decided to splurge and go with homemade peanut butter ice cream. It was only a few thousand calories, some chocolate topping and a brownie or two. Yep, it was a good day.

There is an organization in our community that continually gives back – every year regardless of how the economy is doing. This group is the Coshocton County Board of Realtors – and again this year they gave out four – that’s right – four – $1,000 dollar scholarships to area seniors. That’s one each to a senior from Coshocton, Ridgewood, River View and the Coshocton County Career Center. This group deserves to be thanked and recognized for what they do in our community. And you can support them – if you have a property to list, sell or buy – contact your Realtor of choice that belongs to this organization. Yep, this is kind of an ad for them – but their consistency in giving is appreciated.

So it wasn’t a great year for the balloons to fly but there were lots of other activities and entertainment to keep folks busy at the hot air balloon festival – and looking at my calendar today I noticed that it was in 1861 that Thaddeus Lowe demonstrated the hot air balloon. Thought you might enjoy that little tidbit.

I was wrong in my NBA selection for the championship. Well, kind of. I can use the excuse that I never really predicted a winner – I did say that it was Golden State’s title to lose and the Raptors to win. Well, that’s what happened isn’t it? Just so you know, the Milwaukee Bucks are the favored team to win in 2020, not Cleveland.

Despite winning seven of their last 10, the Tribe continues to lag behind a very hot Twins team – who also won seven of their last 10. The Pirates and Reds are bringing up the rear in the very competitive National League central division. The Dodgers are running away with the west. Houston continues to be the team to watch with 48 wins, tying them with the Dodgers in the National League. The Twins lead the American League with 47 wins.

Our community lost a good man last week with the passing of Mike Elson. Mike set a tremendous example of living life filled with love, strength, courage, caring, humor and faith. While these are only words that are printed on a page with ink – knowing and remembering the man will bring those words to life.
