Fire department thanked for efforts at former Ansell-Edmont site
COSHOCTON – At its July 1 meeting Coshocton City Council gave a first reading to legislation concerning purchasing property at Fairy Falls Drive from Otsego Avenue to the Railroad tracks.
“This property is still in negotiation,” said Mayor Steve Mercer. “We have nothing confirmed specifically yet. We are hoping by the next meeting to have something for you to look at.”
A second reading was given to ordinance 33-18 adopting the budget of the City of Coshocton for the fiscal year beginning January 2020. Council then tabled ordinance 28-19 at the request of Councilman Brad Fuller who wanted time for more information. Ordinance 28-19 limits the jurisdiction of the civil service commission of the City of Coshocton by excluding from its coverage the Coshocton City School District.
During the meeting Safety Service Director Max Crown thanked Tom Barcroft and Our Town Coshocton for assisting with the Casee Allen concert on June 29.
“I think it was much better than last year and is an event the city can build on,” he said. “It was well attended and you guys did a great job hosting.”
Later in the meeting Crown also thanked the fire department for its quick response to the fire at the former Ansell Edmont site on June 27.
“From the time 911 was called to the time they had water on the fire was eight minutes,” he said. “That was outstanding. They did an excellent job of containing the fire and getting additional help and support in. It was a long night with a lot of heat.”
