Three Rivers Car Show moves to Main Street
COSHOCTON – The 22nd annual Three Rivers Fire District Car Show has found a new home. The car show, formerly held at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds, has moved to Main Street this year in the 400 block and will be held Saturday, July 20.
“We are very excited about moving to Main Street because to my knowledge, there’s no other car show on Main Street anymore,” said Lynn Powelson, fire chief. “We are very excited about bringing something to Main Street in Coshocton.”
Fourth Street from Chestnut Street to Main Street and Main from Fourth to the railroad tracks will be closed to allow easy and safe access to view the car show. Registration will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dash plaques will be awarded to the first 100 entries. Cars, trucks, and motorcycles are welcome. Registration fee is $10 and goes toward buying equipment for the fire department.
Voting will last until 2 p.m. Afterward, awards are given out including a kids’ choice award and firefighters’ award, which is considered best in show.
“We number all of the cars that are registered and kids can go out and pick their favorite vehicle,” said Powelson. “They bring us back the number of their favorite car and we keep a tally of all the numbers and that’s how we pick the kids’ choice award. We do the same with the firefighters’ choice award.”
There will also be 40 sponsor trophies awarded.
“If it wasn’t for our sponsors, we wouldn’t be able to do this,” said Powelson. “We definitely appreciate all of our sponsors.”
In addition to the car show, there will be music, a 50/50 raffle, and a food stand, which is a fundraiser for the Future Leaders 4-H Club.
“I get to see and talk to people I usually only get to see and talk to once a year at the car show,” said Powelson. “We have people who come back year after year. It’s a group of people getting together and having good conversation and comradery.”
Three Rivers Fire District also has a fundraiser every Wednesday night with Bingo at the Moose Lodge. Participants must be 18 years old to play. Doors open at 4 p.m. and Bingo begins at 6 p.m.
