Enjoy United Way’s Taste of Coshocton
COSHOCTON – Enjoy a taste of Coshocton and help a good cause.
United Way of Coshocton County’s 15th annual Taste of Coshocton County will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at Lake Park Pavilion. The annual event kicks off United Way’s campaign to help fund local programs.
Tickets to the event are $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12. Attendees can choose eight samples from any of the following restaurants/caterers: Coffee Connection, Freakin’ Rican, Grand Mom Minnie’s Munchies, Hardee’s/Red Burrito, Healthy’s Coshocton, Katie Bakes, Legacy Lanes, Mayor’s Corner, Medbery Market/Lava Rock Grill, Newcastle Farmhaus, Papa John’s Pizza, Pearl Valley Cheese, Rainbow Hills Winery, Ridgewood General Store, Schumaker Farms, Warehouse Steak N Stein, and Whit’s Frozen Custard.
“We have several new names on the list and we are glad to see that,” said Lyn Mizer, director of the United Way. “Four to 500 people are their (at the event) and it’s a nice way for people opening up a new restaurant or showcasing a new food to get it out to the public.”
Representatives from the different agencies help the restaurants/caterers at their booths.
“It’s a partnership, just like in a family,” Mizer said. “Everyone does their part to make the family successful. We work together to help the community understand the importance of what we all do. I like that we have signs all the way up the walkway that have the names of our partners so people can see who their donations are supporting.”
Taste of Coshocton County tickets can be purchased at the United Way Office, 402 Main St. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Tickets at the door are not guaranteed, however that evening you will be able to purchase 50/50 and raffle tickets. The raffle is for 14 gift baskets, which are each valued at more than $150. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. They also can be purchased in advance at any partner agency or the United Way Office.
For those who purchase tickets for Taste of Coshocton County, Mizer’s best piece of advice is to not get caught in lines you don’t want to be in.
“If you have your eye on a vendor and they are in the corner, work your way around to them,” she said. “Ask people in line in front of you if they are standing there for the restaurant you want to go to.”
United Way’s campaign goal this year is $325,000 and the corporate sponsor is Jeff Drennen Dealerships.
