Ridgewood Elementary receives 21st Century Grant

WEST LAFAYETTE – The Ridgewood Local School Board met in regular session on Friday, Aug. 23 at the administration building.

In public participation, Oren Griffith of West Lafayette, thanked the board for their co-operation in making the 72nd West Lafayette Homecoming and fireworks a success. The event is held on school grounds.

Mike Masloski gave an administration presentation announcing the award of the 21st Century Grant to Ridgewood Elementary and Proving Ground Grant. The 21st Century Grant is awarded for five years at $250,000 per year. It provides instruction and programs after school. All three Ridgewood schools are now recipients of the 21st Century Grant. Commendations and recognition to the custodians, maintenance, building and grounds, technology, bus garage and personnel, central office and secretaries for their work and dedication in preparing the schools for a successful start to the 2019-2020 school year.

The following items were approved from the superintendent’s report:

  • Classified Staff: Mary Lou Schwartz bus driver, 5.5 hrs/day
  • Classified Subs: Daniel Kinsey, Elaine Haynes, Brice Hains, Eliza Haynes
  • Voluntary Transfers for 2019/2020 school year: Ron Berkshire to RMS afternoon Custodian

Sharon McCormick to RES Cafeteria, Robin Mullen to RES Custodian 4 hrs. Heather Wilson to RHS Custodian (1 to 9 p.m.)

  • Unpaid leave of absence granted to Julie Feldner for 2019/2020 school year
  • Additional period for Jane Buehler (8/9 Daily) RHS
  • Savannah Slusser long term sub eighth grade social studies

East Holmes School District to educate a RLSD student as presented for 2019/2020

  • Home instruction teachers: Maria Prater and Wendy Croy
  • FFA overnight trip to National Contest at Springfield Ma. Sept. 12 through Sept. 15
  • Volunteers Kristina Allen – Band/Music, Dan Smith, Volleyball, David Hochstetler, Band.
  • Supplemental Contracts for 2019-2020 school year: John Lindig- Marching Band 65%; John Browning – Aux. Percussion; Cassandra Webster – Ninth Grade Volleyball; Andi Dobbins – Seventh Grade Volleyball (50%); John Slusser- Spring and Summer conditioning; Jacqueline McPherson – RMS Student Council; Debbie Carpenter – RMS Accelerated Reader; Devin Lusk – RMS Asst Football; Hope Johnson RHS Asst. The next regular board of education meeting will be on Monday, Sept. 16, at the administration building, 301 S. Oak St.
