New gym in Coshocton has ribbon cutting ceremony
COSHOCTON – Anytime Fitness had its grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The new gym, located at 23635 Airport Road, opened on July 1 and since that time has had 500 members join.
“We are a family here and so people can come in and tell me about their day,” said Manager Hannah Bush. “If they’ve had a bad day, hopefully when they leave here, they’re feeling better.”
The gym is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but is not staffed at all hours. They have cameras around the facility and a panic button that contacts 9-1-1 if pushed. Those who wish to workout after hours can also wear a device that can alert medical personnel if needed.
“People need their options and with being the other gym in town, I think it will benefit everyone in town,” said Bush. “With us being here as well, everyone has a choice.”
Each new member has a meeting with Bush before beginning their first workout.
“That way, we can figure out where they’re at in their fitness journey and where they need help,” said Bush.
Twice a year, members can vote on what they would like to see at the gym.
“Members are our priority,” said Bush. “Whatever we can do to make sure they have what they need is important to us.”
Alyssa Haines is the member experience manager at Anytime Fitness and hopes the gym is a welcoming place for all people who want to get into better shape.
“Just giving people a nice, positive, motivational atmosphere and it’s a personal level that you don’t get at other gyms,” said Haines. “That’s what sets us apart.”
One of the owners of Anytime Fitness, Dave Sabo, was able to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony.
“Coshocton is a market we have been trying to come into for a few years now,” said Sabo. “Our mission is to bring health and wellness to predominately rural Ohio. In rural Ohio, there is definitely a need. We have an opioid epidemic and an obesity epidemic. We feel like we can fill a need in rural Ohio. We feel like we can bring a new level of expertise to rural Ohio. We’ve been open for two months now and the experience from day one has been great. We have about 500 members and that’s a huge indicator for our future success. We’re very happy to be here in the community.”
Among the dignitaries who attended the ceremony were two of the county commissioners and the mayor of Coshocton.
“We welcome anybody who wants to make an investment in the community,” said Steve Mercer, mayor of Coshocton. “I wish you great success here.”
