Suspect charged in shooting incident

COSHOCTON – On Sept. 8, at 12:56 a.m. the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call in reference to gun shots in the area of the 900 block of Orange Street.  Deputies responded to the area and began looking for the suspect. The sheriff’s office then received multiple calls in reference to a man with a gun on Locust Street. At 1:05 a.m. the sheriff’s office received calls in reference to multiple shots fired in the 400 block of Locust Street. The victims fled the scene and came to the sheriff’s office. Though the vehicle was shot numerous times, no victims were injured during the shooting.

Within minutes of the original phone call, a suspect vehicle was located and stopped by patrol officers. One male suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Later on Sept. 8, a firearm, believed to be the weapon used in this incident, was located and taken into evidence.

On Sept. 9, Zachary J. Grimmett, a 30-year-old male from the Coshocton area, was formally charged with attempted murder, a felony of the first degree. Additional charges are anticipated upon further review by Coshocton County Prosecutor Jason Given.
