BPW to host cake auction with Halloween theme

| September 13, 2019

COSHOCTON – The Coshocton Business and Professional Women will have their 14th annual BPW Cake Auction on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. in the Frontier Power Community Room, 770 South Second St., Coshocton.

This year, the theme will be “Scary, Creepy, Halloween Cakes”. Create a cake resembling anything to do with Halloween. Include an incentive or goodies that will entice bidders to want to buy your cake. You do not have to bake the cake yourself. There are plenty of cake bakers in Coshocton County that would be willing to get creative with the Halloween theme. Provide a cake to be auctioned off and any other incentive that you feel will make your cake enticing for people to bid on.

The cake auction will also feature a Kids Cake Baking Contest. Parents, help your kids preheat the oven, fire up their competitive spirit, and register them for the contest. The public will view and vote on the winner and first place will receive a trophy. Cakes will be auctioned off at 4 p.m., so stick around and bid on your favorite cake.

Cakes can be dropped off on Friday, Oct. 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cake viewing and voting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Send your reservation by fax, text message, screenshot, or email and provide your email address so that details can be sent to you in the future. Deadline to register is Saturday, Oct. 12. Contact 740-502-2861 or email bpwcakeauction@gmail.com to register.

BPW provides scholarships to those individuals attending a higher education institute through the Joan McNeely Working Women’s Scholarship Fund. In May of 2019, BPW was able to give out two $1,000 scholarships. BPW continues to have their cake auction fundraiser each year in order to raise money for their scholarship program and to help various projects within Coshocton County. The benefit for businesses within Coshocton County to participate in this BPW fundraiser is the exposure it gives a business through the media showing support for working women returning to college to further their education.

If participating in the cake auction that day isn’t feasible, businesses and individuals have the option of being a sponsor for the BPW Cake Auction. There are three levels of sponsorship: Gold, $250 to $300; Silver, $150 to $200; or Bronze, $50 to $100. Checks may be made out to BPW/Coshocton and mailed to PO Box 656, Coshocton, Ohio, 43812. Contact person for sponsorship is Tomma Bordenkircher at 740-622-0009 or tommabordenkircher@gmail.com.
