John and Denise Lillibridge were recipients of one of the 4-H Ambassador Awards that are given out during the Coshocton County Fair. The Lillibridge family received this surprise announcement before the goat show in the Junior Fair Arena on Saturday, Sept. 28.

COSHOCTON – John and Denise Lillibridge were surprised on Saturday, Sept. 28 before the goat show at the Coshocton County Fair when they were awarded with a 4-H Ambassador Award.

“I had no idea,” said Denise. “I am just overwhelmed and grateful. We do it for the kids. We’ve had kids in 4-H for over 20 years. We just want everyone to have a positive experience at the fair.”

The Lillibridge family has nine children ranging in age from 34 to 16 years old.

“They’ve always participated in 4-H and they’ve all shown goats,” said Denise. “They’ve all grown up in 4-H.”

Denise has been a 4-H advisor for 20 years and John has been an advisor for 17 years.

“They started showing 25 years ago with their kids’ goats and they’ve been involved ever since,” said June Hunter, who presented the award to the Lillibridge family.

Denise started a 4-H club “Green Acres” which may have been because they had a 347-acre farm.

“They are always quiet, friendly, and willing to step up to the task,” said Hunter. “One of the things their daughter shared was they believe that raising animals to show is a great lesson for their children.”

The Lillibridge family has been a part of the 4-H community, 4-H kick-off events, advisor’s banquets, youth awards and parties, and many other 4-H activities throughout the community for many years.

“They are both key leaders in our county for over 20 years,” said Hunter.

The 4-H Ambassador Award is given to a person, either living or deceased, who has contributed to or facilitated a 4-H program and gone above and beyond for the love of 4-H. The awards used to be given out at an annual 4-H banquet that has since been discontinued. Now, they are given out throughout the Coshocton County Fair at various shows and events.
